The new battery provides 5 days of battery life for smartphones and allows them to travel 1,000 kilometers in electric cars without the need for a charging case.

Researchers at Monash University in Australia have just developed a lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery, which is hailed as the most efficient battery in the world. It does power the smartphone for five days and guarantees 1,000 kilometers of electric cars.

Easy to produce high capacity battery

To achieve this feat, the researchers used the same materials that have been used in lithium-ion batteries, but modified the design of the sulfur cathode so that it can withstand higher loads without the cathode. Affects the overall capacity or performance of the battery.

Researchers and engineers used bridging technology from the 1970s to make laundry detergent. This approach seems to be the right solution, as the research team explained that it has achieved a level of stability never before seen in the field of energy storage.

The first prototypes of this new battery have been developed in Germany and are currently being tested in Australian electric vehicles and photovoltaic panels.

Researchers have applied for a patent for the manufacturing process of this new type of large-capacity battery, and point out that compared with the current lithium-ion battery, this battery not only has better performance, but also is simple to manufacture and has less environmental impact.
